For the People in the Back

People of color in America are seen as guilty the moment they walk in a room. I made this work as a way to display people who were victims of gun violence and police brutality. The news shows them at their worst, but I want to present them at their best. This is innocence to me. The faces, the lives of the people that we cast out of society. These issues are important to me as a woman of color; my people are being judged, murdered, and scrutinized. Say their names. Say them loud and proud for the people in the back that cannot hear it.
