There are words we will never hear. We are okay
with that. Instead of listening, we pose
for pictures that just include us. A foggy chill
whips through the foreground. Trees rustle
in the back. There is enough alcohol to serve
an entire wedding in this home. We drink
and wonder how to come to terms with people
who love us not loving the way we live. Yet we smile.
There is no need to cry streams of sparkling black
tears when we have each other. We cheer on
the other even from different sides of the world.
