I remember late nights
at the bottom of my fire escape ladder
we raced in shopping cart lots
drinking creme soda in glass bottles
I remember dropping my phone—one, two many times I can’t seem to count
we stole signs off of walls
practiced running from the law
we never worried—
of what would happen next we just–
were… if that makes any sense
I remember
falling in love
being crushed by it all
learning of new destinies
overcoming the hardest battles
—I see
the sun setting
behind wherever I was living
and feeling
nostalgia.
